Yanartas is in Olimpos Milli Parki and it is a spot on a hill from which a form of natural gas emits. One way or another, the gas is ignited so the hillside has numerous fissures with flames of varying sizes coming out of the ground.
It has been like this for millenia and the ancients called it the Chimaera, hence the nearby town of Kemer. It was associated with the underworld and with Vulcan/Hephaestos, was used as a beacon for sailors, and was a pirate base.
People cook food and tea on the flames and it is a vigourous, though short, hike up the hill.
