The City of Canakkale is a bustling and fairly attractive town. It is the primary ferryboat terminal on the Anatolia side of the straight and has a nice waterfront area with restaurants and tea gardens.

At the SW end of the esplanade along the straight is the Naval Museum, with a replica of a WWI minelayer, a fortress, artillery, etc.

There is also a busy commercial and restaurant area near the main ferry terminal and a square with an old clock tower.
