Tamarind Village is a peaceful boutique hotel located in the center of Chiang Mai's old city. The location is not only great for touring the various Wat's and historic sites in the old city, but it is also much quieter than the noisy tourist district near the river. The rooms are comfortable, although somewhat simple. Mosquitos were a problem in our room, but the staff will spray if you ask them. The staff is also quite helpful in assisting you to book any tours and/or transportation that you may need. It is definitely pricey, but you can usually get good discount rates if you look around.

Unique Qualities: A descent breakfast buffet is provided. The pool is simply lovely, especially after a hot day of sightseeing. The inner courtyard of the hotel has many beautiful trees and flowers. The hotel has only 40 rooms, so it's never terribly crowded. Overall a lovely place with a great location.
