"Palais de Justice, gargoyles" Top 5 Page for this destination ARCHITECTURE Tip by JLBG

ARCHITECTURE, Rouen: 41 reviews and 41 photos

Favorite thing: The gargoyles present on most ancient buildings, religious or not, were designed to evacuate the water from the roofs as far as possible from the feet of the walls in order to avoid as much as possible to bring moisture in the walls and, in the long run, to ruin them. They offer a wide variety of fantastic animals. One question that hit me (I have not the answer) is : does roof's water still flows through the gargoyles, on the head of passer-bys ? I bet not ! Anybody has the answer ?
