  Dinosaur bones
by Myndo

Dinosaur National Monument is less spectacular than the name may suggest, but it is interesting anyway.

In very very old times there was a river running through here and in the old river bed they found a lot of bones that were preserved.

The old river bed is now a wall (or steep cliff).
You can have a close look at the bones and even touch some. There are sign that describe the dinosaurs that left their bones here.

The only thing that bugged me a little was the paintings of the dinosaurs. Since they do not know what color the skin of a dinosaur had, they colored them after today living animals ... so you find one with leopard dots and giraffae like ones. I think they had better taken the colors and patterns of todays reptiles, but what do I know?

The surrounding Canyons and Landscape is worth a view, too, BTW.

Directions: Utah and Colorado (on the border)
