The Red River Shootout weekend is held every year in October at the Cotton Bowl during the Texas State Fair. It is a fierce football rivalry between the Texas Longhorns and OU (Oklahoma University) Sooners which began some 99 yrs ago and so much tradition has built up on both sides over the years. There are many who believe that this match is college football’s best and most intense rivalry game and it is certainly one of the longest-running rivalries in college football played on a neutral field. While Texas supporters want the Longhorns to win, Texas retailers hope for an OU win. When that happens, some of the best turnover for the year, occurs over that weekend.
