Rollon or Rolf or Hrolf (but better known as Rollon), son of Rogwald was born around 845 in Norway in the Alesund islands. He was banned in 875. He made a band of Norwegians and Danes with whom reached the Seine and Rouen in 876. He built a city wall to protect Rouen, which became its stronghold. He besieged Paris, destroyed several cities and abbeys (Bayeux); He sailed to England to help his friend; king Alfred. After three years, he came back with a larger troop and took Nantes, Angers, Le Mans and other cities.
