Here you can buy almost everything... The city has several large indoor markets that sell everyday goods. In District 1 is Ben Thanh Market, which was first built in 1914 and known to the French as Halles Centrales. It covers 11,000 square meters and inside is a crowded maze of stalls selling an enormous variety of goods including an large selection of fabrics, clothes, shoes, bags, chopsticks, ceramics, meat, seafood, produce, flowers, plastics, hats, embroidered linens, lacquer, baskets, cosmetics, kitchen appliances, souvenirs and much more. There is also a section of food vendors who sell favorite local fare and drinks to exhausted shoppers. If it isn't sold inside this market, it is probably sold within 500 meters of it as the whole surrounding area is a major shopping district.
