Dutch Bar is the `Cheers Bar` of Osaka.

It`s more or less the same crowd every night, and if you go there as a newcomer, you`ll be given a warm welcome. Ask for Jun, the owner.

I went there on my first night in Japan in August, 2001. The bar proprietor will give you a survey to fill in (where you are from etc) and will probably introduce you to some of the regulars. Interesting, but whatever you put for `favourite music` will suddenly appear on the bar sound system about ten minutes after you hand in your survey ;-)

If you go a second time, everyone will know your name :-) It`s a good way to meet some `suburban` locals.

Drinks cost 500 yen. Open 6pm until the last patron leaves.

Dress Code: Dress cool.

Directions: Located in Showacho, four stations south of Namba on the Midosuji line. Take exit four, walk two blocks straight ahead past the Daily Yamasaki and it`s on the right, one door down from the corner.
