Travel within the city of Melbourne, and the surrounding suburbs, is relatively easy, because of the good public transport system in place.
So if you prefer not to drive, then you have several options.
Train... There are regular trains to all suburbs.. from Flinders St. Station.
Bus... There are buses within the city, and also to other suburbs.
Tram... This is probably the best option, and very convenient. Todays trams are very comfortable, and a great way to see the city of Melbourne, as well as many other suburbs.
