"Turn hemp beer" Berlin Off The Beaten Path Tip by drei3t
Berlin Off The Beaten Path: 459 reviews and 690 photos
In Germany, brewers are obliged to comply with the "Reinheitsgebot" (Beer Purity Regulations) dating back to the year 1516. These regulations lay down that only three natural ingredients - malt, hops and water - may be fermented with yeast to produce beer.
However, the Turn beer is brewed in a different way than normal beers. Turn is brewed with dustrial hemp. The special aroma of the hemp blossoms is preserved by applying a special brewing process.
The beer tastes quite unique and gives you slightly airier legs..:) Yes, it is perfectly legal.
The brewery that makes Turn beer, Bier Company, once had a brewery pub in Berlin, but at least 2003 it was closed. You can still find Turn in some normal pubs, you can see the pub list in their home page.
