The Sir John Soane's Museum isn't for everybody and, in fact, I didn't know what the hubub was all about when my friend suggested we visit. But once you enter into the former home of English architect Soane you'll be amazed and awed not just by the beauty but by the sheer number of items in his collection. Also amazing is how he was able to arrange and decorate his relatively compact home with so many artifacts and pieces but still keep it accessible and "homey."

There's probably a fine line between a compulsive pack rat and a bona fide art collector, however Sir John was on the side of genius.
