"Ta Keo" Cambodia Things to Do Tip by Rodan44

The mountain-temple of Ta Keo, "Crystal Ancestor", is a Brahmanic temple dedicated to Shiva and built at the end of the 11th century by King Jayavarman V. Although impressive in size, height, and proportions, Ta Keo lacks any carvings or sculptures, making it much less graceful than most other temples, a result of it never actually being finished. The construction was likely halted after the premature death of Jayavarman V, but another account states that the central sanctuary was struck by lightning, which was interpreted as Shiva's displeasure with his new residence.
Directions: directly east of Angkor Thom, ~10km from Siem Reap
