As KL's most architecturally rich area, this expansive square was once a colonial cricket field, the site of Malaysia's Independence ceremonies in 1957 - and now home to the tallest flagpole in Asia. On one side of the square is KL's Justice Hall, housed in the Sultan Abdul Samad building. With its clock tower and Islamic influences, the High Court blends well with neighboring buildings.
On the opposite of the square is the mock-Tudor Royal Selangor Club, a social centre for KL's high society in the tin-rush days of the 1890's.
This is not only an interesting historic site, but also one of the most beautiful places in KL, away from the traffic you can relax and enjoy the views of the magnificient buildings around.
