Seria: "Sleep is usually more exciting..." Brunei Nightlife Tip by Craig.White

Brunei Nightlife: 12 reviews and 11 photos

There are a few places to get some good times after the sun has gone down:

Orchid Room, Kuala Belait
Ming Fann (AKA "mingin' fanny"), Seria

Both are friendly to the weary expat & the food is also good (asian fare).

There is a great little viet/thia place across from the Orchid. Ground floor and it looks a bit like a coffee shop, but the food is excellent. James is one of the owners, used to be in travel. Ask to see him, tell him what you are into (spicy seafood, veggie stuff, thia, cambodian, whatever) and he'll get the cook to do something special for you.

Other than that, could I recommend going across the border to Miri, Sarawak in malasia and having a few drinks in bars that are way too noisy? I prefer a hotel pub with a pool table to the "Cherry Berry's" or the "Guns and Roses" type places in Miri, but, then again, I'm not into the whole young-Philippino-whore-thing, which is, I supose, the reason for going to such places.

In Bandar, best bet is to get yourself over to the Empire. Don't waste your time anywhere else. 5 star resort for cheap money.
There is a story that there is a hotel where you can go up to the 5th floor and get yourself a bottle or 2, but I'll leave that for you to figure out from the taxi driver or hotel worker nearest you.

Dress Code: Women have to keep it under control out here. No bare shoulders/midrif/knees or cleavage (front or back). men usually get by in anything comfortable. Need those slacks and shoes if you are going into the government buildings, otherwise it can be shorts.

Address: small country -- 2 hours from tip to tip...
Directions: follow the road (the only one) long enough and you'll find it.
Theme: Eating and Drinking
