In 1813 William and his wife Mary moved to Rydal Mount where they stayed until their deaths.

In 1820 he published his "Guide through he District of the Lakes", and in 1842 became the Poet Laureate

Admission prices (2004) Adults £4.50 Senior Citizens £3.50 Students £3.25.

There are large terraced gardens landscaped by the poet to wander through, with magnificent views of Lake Windermere and Rydal Water.

Garden only £2.00 Children £1.50 Family tickets £10.00.
