If there is one church/cathedral that you want to visit in London ..it has to be theis Abbey .The architecture is magnificient and the interior is breathtaking . worth the GBP 7.50 ( oucch ) . There is so much to see inside from the coronations of kings ( with so many marble effigies ), to tombs of royalty which includes the Elizabeth I buried opposite the Mary of Scot...whom she beheaded , to poets' corner and the pictureque Abbey garden.

YOu can fork out a little bit more for the Audio tour !

Important dates includes

960 - Benedictine monk settled here
1066 - First Coronation of William the Conqueror
1301 - Coronation chair made.
1540 - Dixxolution of the monastery by Henry VII
1953 - Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II
1997 - Funeral of Diana Princess of Wales
2002 - Funeral of Queen Mother

Warning ...no pics allowed inside in most areas. Sigh ! But they didnt say you cannot zoom from afar , did they !
