"From Scotland to Faro by..." Portugal Transportation Tip by HowardMurphy

Portugal Transportation: 121 reviews and 100 photos

From Scotland to Faro by Air.
Faro to Sagres is about an hour by taxi.
The hotel offered to arrange for the local taxi to collect us from the airport and we recieved a warm welcome from the owner who recognised us from our previous visit. We enjoyed a pleasant comfortable ride and stopped midway for a cup of tea. The price (Jan-April 200)worked out for one-way about £50 sterling, 15000 escudos or approx. $90 US dollars.
You can hire a car from the airport or arrange the hire from home.
A car is very useful and can be booked via the hotel, the rates are good and often it will be a new car. Avis gave a good deal but then spoilt it by charging for repairs to an already faulty tyre so check the small print. Public transport is ok.
