"U.S.S. Constitution is a great Historical Tour" USS Constitution - Charlestown Navy Yard Tip by MatthewMetcalfe

  Below Old Ironsides Decks
by MatthewMetcalfe

The U.S.S. Constitution is the oldest ship in the Navy. Because it is still commissioned, it is manned by sailors. The Ship was one of the first built for the new Navy and has never lost a battle.

There are two tours, a quick top deck tour and a longer tour that takes you below deck. If you have the time, the longer tour is well worth the extra wait in line. We went at the end of the day and there was no wait at all (on a Friday).

In addition to the Constitution, there is also a pretty good Museum on the Constitution as well as a Destroyer to visit. We were there too late in the day to visit the Destroyer but the Museum was interesting. The Museum GIft Shop also has a pretty good selection of Naval History books for sale.

Address: Charlestown Navy Yard
Directions: Take the Ferry from the Aquarium to the Charlestown Navy Yard then head towards the masts. It's a short walk from the ferry to the ship.
