  The Parliament Buildings, Ottawa
by windsorgirl

Ottawa, with a population of 315,000 is an attractive city located on the banks of the Ottawa River and the border of Quebec. The main attraction here is definitely Parliament Hill where you can view the beautiful gothic styled parliament buildings with their green copper roofs.

You can take a tour of the interior and view the senate chambers while in progress. You can also climb to the top of the Peace Tower for a view of the city and river.

In the summer months, you can watch the changing of the guard at 10am on the lawns in front of the Parliament Buildings.

There are also many excellent museums and the Royal Canadian Mint to visit.

In the winter, you can ice skate for 5kms on the Rideau Canal and enjoy Winterlude, a celebration of winter during the first three weekends of February.

Directions: Ottawa is located 351 kms northeast of Toronto.
