Up on the balcony of the Guildhall are two statues-Gog and Magog, the legendary giants who represent pre-Christian conflict between ancient Britons and Trojan invaders. This conflict resulted in the founding of New Troy where London stands today.

The original statues from 1708 were destroyed in the Blitz in 1940, these copies were placed in 1953
