"The Chequamagon National..." Wisconsin Things to Do Tip by pipsqueak

Wisconsin Things to Do: 114 reviews and 148 photos

The Chequamagon National Forest has miles of off-road bicycle trails near the town of Cable, Wisconsin. There are bike rentals available in Cable and Hayward which is about 17 miles away.
There are also a number of mountain bike races in the summer and early fall in the area including the reknowned 'Chequamagon Fat Tire Festival' which features a 40-mile off-road race and around 2500 participants and is one of the most popular events of its kind in the country. The event is full every year and a lottery now decides who gets in or not.
This picture is from the 'Cable Off-Road Classic' held the 3rd weekend in May each year. I am in the middle of the group somewhere getting ready to finish in 235th place.

Address: Cable is in the north central part of Wisconsin.
