Gn Gede (2.958 m) and Gn Pangrango (3.019 m) are both part of a volcanic chain (with around 35 active volcanoes) from Sumatra through Java and the Lesser Sunda Islands. Visit Gn Gede area, 150 square kilometres/58 squares miles and closest city Bogor and Jakarta. You can stay overnight to enjoy early morning birdwatch and, it takes at least 2 days to climb the mountains. Weekends can be crowded and you need permits.

Gn Gede area has some good guesthouses surrounded by botanical gardens, and hotels outside the park, or find one at hill resorts near the main road. Go for a mountain hike. Birdwatch is excellent. If you wish to climb the mountains you must obtain the permit either at Visitor Center - Cibodas or Selabintana Resort Office and Gunung Putri Resort Office.
