Chitkul is the last village tourists are allowed to go to near the Indo-Tibetan border. One can hike for another 3 km from this village upto a check post but beyond that no one is allowed. In fact the roads end at this village so if you go any further it has to be on foot.

This village was opened to tourists just over a decade ago and is still relatively untouched. There are a couple of places to stay here and new places of accomodation are being built.
