The St Arnou, I discovered upon visiting it with a group of friends at the end of August 2004 for drinks, is just as attractive on the inside as outside. On the wall there is a large board telling the story of St Arnou (born in the 500s AD, became a bishop, and his favorite beverage was quoted to be beer - hence inspiration for the name of the pub). There is a lot of use of wood panelling all around the walls, and the tables and bar are also of this dark. solid wood. Behind the bar is also quite Gothic, almost alter-like with wooden spires, small sliding in and out drawers and wooden cubby holes for wine bottles.
It was quiet in there when we arrived at 5.30, but by 6.30 the place was packed. The menu was quite varied, between $14-$19 main meals, with weekday dinner changing special for about $10.
Here we are below - some of the gang from (Melbourne branch).
