There is an open top double decker bus trip around Stirling. It uses an elderly/characterful bus and the route covers the main sites from Bannockburn to the Wallace Monument and Uni. Central point is the train station. As well as the narrated tour you can use the bus as transportation during daytime. I've not been on the tour myself but I'm sure I would learn a few factoids.

Weather warning: This is Scotland - the trip will be glorious on a sunny day, but I have seen plenty of tourists shivering away or sheltering downstairs. Take something warm and/or waterproof.
