The Iglesia de San Francisco is the Church of Saint Francis. It's one of the most important religious buildings of the city - especially for its Holy Sacrament Chapel - one of the most interesting of the country. I must say that the building that you see is very different from what it would have looked like when it was constructed. First it was burned by pirates in the 17th century and then rebuilt, expended and "revamped" - in a negative way. The abode facade and tower were torn down to be replaced by a very uncharacteristic neo-Gothic one. So why visit this church? For its interior and also (and especially) for the adjacent Museo Diocesano de Coro - a fine art museum.
