"Forest Service Campgrounds" Mazama Hotel Tip by goshawk301

Mazama Hotels: 2 reviews and 1 photos

There are three very nice campgrounds operated by the Okanogan National Forest between Washington Pass and Mazama.

The highest in elevation is Lone Fir, which has a small number of sites just off the highway. In the early season these may be under snow. I've used it often for outdoor fun at Washington Pass.

The middle one is Klipchuck, which is about half a mile off the road in the cosy woods. Campsites are along a loop road, and they are very well provided for: there are toilet buildings, water faucets and wastewater dumps. It's my favorite of the three.

The lowest is Early Winters, which is on the flat valley floor in an open pine forest. There are separate tenting and RV areas.

There are also nice campgrounds in Lost River Valley, up from Mazama along Harts Pass Road.

Any of these are very nicely situated and will serve recreationists and campers well.

Comparison: least expensive
Directions: On US 20 between Washington Pass and Mazama
Price: less than US$20
