The old Turkish bath off Glossop Road has recently been renovated, and offers a truly relaxing time.

Originally built in 1836 for medicinal purposes.
In 1877, 2 swimming baths, a hairdressers and the Turkish bath were opened. Victorian Sheffielders embraced the concept of sophisticated cleansing!

The renovation has been performed in a tasteful way, combining modern comforts without losing the traditional atmosphere or decor.

There are framed prints of the plans of the old baths in the ladies changing rooms.

(Don't know if there are the same in the gents :-) )

A great way to escape the pressures of modern living.

On arrival, after filling out a medical card, you are shown to the changing rooms with lockers and fluffy towels , flip flops and robe.

The staff were friendly, helpful and professional.

You can relax in the aromasteam room with essential oils, The Hammam (soft heat) , Steam room, Sauna, the invigorating plunge pool (its freezing!!) and Ice cave (Where crushed ice is dispensed, the idea being that you exfoliate with the ice crystals!!)

In between these sessions you can relax in the lounge with cold or hot drinks(included in the admission price), while flicking thro glossy mags.
We enjoyed mini choc profiteroles with our hot chocolate Mmmmm!
3 hours of pure relaxation!!

Treatments such as massage or exfoliation are extra.
There's also a hairdressers and beauty salon.
Check the Spa website for treatments/prices etc.

I've also enjoyed a pedicure- prior to my hols - bliss!! Can't wait to try other treatments

Even outside on the street, the scent of Eucalyptus is evident, as I found out when I nipped along to take photos!
