"Goatskin skirts and calebashes" Turmi Local Custom Tip by sachara
Turmi Local Customs: 4 reviews and 4 photos
In the Oromo Region the people are wearing bead-decorated leather garments, that reflects their economy, based on livestock. So the costumes reflect in some extent the different regions, lifestyles and climate.
Like at the market of Key Afar, I saw also at the Dimeka market girls wearing beautiful goatskin skirts at the back ending in a kind of tail, decorated with colourful beads and kaurishells.
Besides wearing these leather clothes, the people still use the traditional calabashes as watercontainer. You don't see hardly any plastic around.
