various: "Homestay" Listvyanka Hotel Tip by Intrepidduck

In a few hours or so you would have seen all the sights of the village it's self, but a night spent here is essential. If you are going to stay most likely you will be in one of the many B and B's or known locally as "Homestays". In these you should be provided with breakfast and dinner aswell as a room either to your self or shared with one or two others. I had the place to myself, which can be a little lonely if you are here more than one night. However it's a good chance to practice your Russian.
Unique Qualities: In the Homestays you will be in a traditional Siberian log cabin home, but not quite like the Nth American log cabin. Russian homes are charming, heavily insulated and very cosy with enough simple confort of life. This said the toilet and bathroom are located in separate buildings outside, this didn't bother me since it was summer. The Banya is the typical rural Russian bathroom, a wood lined steamroom where water is poured across hot stones - very nice. Russian's are big eaters so you will not starve.
Finding this type of accommodation if passing through isn't difficult as you only have to ask around. I booked mine through the travel company who did my Trans Siberian Railway tickets in advanced.
