  Horse drawn tram

A lot funnier than its name suggests, even for the non anoraks, but especially if you are interested in it or have children. You can try to drive an underground train and there a buses and trams galore. The history of public transport in Stockholm is also explained, starting with the 17th century carriages and then the "rowing ladies" taking passengers across the waters, and moving on to the modern system. Personally, I find the photos of Stockholm during the building of the underground amazing, but maybe that's because I know the city. Another favourite is the old bus that was a summer house for decades before finding its way into the museum. What a mess this construction made of the entire city centre! There are also usually side exhibitions on advertising in the underground and other things. I get quite nostalgic as I grew up with this system. Click on the picture as it is very dark in small version and you don't see the carriage...
