"Skogskyrkogarden Cemetary" Europe Things to Do Tip by Sjalen

Europe Things to Do: 1,313 reviews and 2,177 photos

I used to go here as a child when I still lived in Stockholm, as my grandmother is buried here. Ironically, I have since wondered if she would fancy being part of a heritage site...she was involved in folk dancing...Next time, I will have to take a photo, now that I have included it on VT.

The cemetary is from around 1920 and is absolutely huuuuge. It has served as a model for many other modern cemetaries around the world. It is incorporated in the pine tree cliff landscape created on disused gravel pits, and it is this mix of landscape and cemetary which impresses you.

Directions: Southern Stockholm with its own underground station.
