The old waterfront area, immediately across the border from Singapore, boast s unique architecture, a few restaurants and banks, and little else. Near the Sultan Abu Baker Museum is an area called Waterfront City. It was opened in 2000 as a shopping center but was quickly abandoned before it could reach its full potential and scrapped in 2003. This area is now being re-redeveloped into a 10 acre "tourist, commercial and recreational spot." I think that's marketing language for tourist trap.

Directions: This is the area immediately west (left) of the causeway along the Straits of Johor.
