Famous Omani Cuisine Include the local sweet known as Omani Halwa.

This is well known for it's unique taste throughout the Arabian Penensula, and is frequently ordered by other gulf residents.

It's made of water, white sugar, brown sugar, wheat starch, a dash of rose water, saffron, cardamon, almonds and nutmeg.
The best Halwa's are either made by locals working from home, or you can try the ones made by the 'Barka Halwa Factory'

Fresh made Halwa's can be bought from the factory in Barka (around 40 min drive from Mutrah), or you can find ready made ones in stall's in City Center Mall near the airport.

Other places to taste Halwa in include:

1. Al Bustan hotel - Al Sebla
2- any of the local cuisine restaurants (Ofair, Ibn Ateeq)

Favorite Dish: I preffer the dark halwa with nuts.

Depending on the quality and size of course, prices range from RO 3.000 to RO 80.000 more or less.
