"see the Space Needle. Great..." Washington State Favorite Tip by kahiwa

Washington State General: 65 reviews and 47 photos

Favorite thing: see the Space Needle. Great view of the city. Take the tram to town. We stayed at the Homewood Suites outside of Seattle, ate lots of food at The Keg (had a blast!), and shopped at the little country and antique stores in the area.

Drove down to Portland, but stopped at the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument. Awesome. The museum alone is worth the drive. Detailed accounts of how the volcano blew, and the damage it has done.

On the way back up from Portland, we decided to 'see Mt. Ranier'. The mountain is beautiful, but it took us HOURS to drive all the way around the mountain (we were heading to Vancouver, B.C.), Big mistake.

Lots of little country craft stores along the drive north (Centralia, etc.)

Fondest memory: The road trip through Washinton, from Portland to Vancouver, B.C., was the best. We had no itinerary, other than a room reservation in Vancouver. Great road trip.

Second fondest memory: Having dinner for six at 'The Keg' in Seattle, and laughing so much other people were staring at us. We ate SO much food, we had to roll out of there. The food was good and the portions generous. Considering all the appetizers, drinks, main courses of steak and lobster, and the desserts we ate, the bill was quite reasonable.
