  Getting wet!
by grets

After breakfast at the hotel, Colin picks us up again to take us for a walk of Victoria Falls National Park. The walkways are very tastefull produced with small cobbles underfoot and shrubs utilised as fencing, with the paths weaving in and out of the rainforest created by the spray of the falls.

It is very natural, and there are thankfully hardly any other tourists. The path leads to various viewpoints of the falls, some wetter than others. We have taken along rain ponchos, and Colin carries umbrellas. At times we need both. The spray rises over 50 metres into the sky and comes down as heavy 'rain'. We get absolutely drenched, as obviously the 'rain' doesn't fall vertically, but also horizontally and diagonally.

The power of the water pounding against the rocks is truly awesome, and we feel the whole experience comparable with Iguacu falls in South America, an all-time favourite of ours. Glad I brought my waterproof camera. The national park is full of small game and monkeys, and we see the dvestation left recently by a stray elephant.
