Myanmar (Burma) Things to Do: 464 reviews and 930 photos

This enormous pagoda was built in Sri Lankan style in 1636. Around the base are 812 stone pillars each with a small hollow for an oil lamp as well as 120 niches for nats. The reliquary chamber contains a tooth from the Buddha.

Legend tells that the stupa was modelled after the perfect breast of a well-endowed queen.

The bell was originally gilded and illuminated at night by oil lamps.
