We used to have a Golden Corral near us, and one of my daughter's friends worked there for awhile. There was sometimes a line and difficulty in getting a table at peak meal hours.

The first Golden Corral restaurant opened in Fayetteville, NC in 1973. They now have restaurants in almost every state.

They are family-style restaurants and their website says: "The Golden Choice Buffet contains an array of hot meat options, as well as pasta, pizza, fresh vegetable choices, salad bar and a selection of carved meats at dinner and on Sundays.

"We offer tempting baked goods from The Brass Bell Bakery? and Dessert Cafe, our famous in-house bakery. Piping hot yeast rolls, yummy cookies and brownies are baked fresh every fifteen minutes!"

Favorite Dish: At our Golden Corral, you ordered your main dish at a cafeteria-like line, and then were directed to a table and they brought your entre out to you. You got your sides and desserts at a buffet. They apparently now also have a new "Great Steak Buffet featuring All-You-Can-Eat sirloin steak."

We ate lunch at the Golden Coral in Aberdeen this summer (2005) because we knew that we could get our meal in a timely manner and would have a good choice of food.
