Rijeka Off The Beaten Path: 34 reviews and 64 photos

POREC - Is a port on the western part of Istria, one of the most important tourist resorts in Croatia. There are dense pine woods, cypresses and other aromatic Mediterranean vegetation. The climate is mild and there are rocky, pebble and sandy beaches with numerous islets and cliffs, modern hotel complexes and motor camps (Lanterna, Pical, Plava and Zelena laguna).
The old part of the town is situated on the peninsula, in front of which there is the islet of St. Nicholas.

On the Marafor Square, on the spot of the former Roman forum, there are remains of the temples of the Roman Gods Neptune and Mars. In Porec, there is one of the most significant example of the Byzantine art, the Cathedras of Euphrasias (middle of the 6th century). It is included in the UNESCO?s list of the world cultural heritage.
