"For little angels and little devils" Germany Local Custom Tip by Nemorino
Germany Local Customs: 311 reviews and 349 photos
Engelchen in German means "little angel", and Teufelchen means "little devil".
The traditional idea is that you have a little angel on your right shoulder and a little devil on your left shoulder, both telling you what to do. It's like good and evil, but both are usually fairly harmless.
In souvenir shops you can by kitschy little figurines of cute little angels and devils. And you might also see them on the doors of the toilets in a pub somewhere, the little angel meaning the women's room and the little devil the men's.
Nowadays Engelchen and Teufelchen are also the names of two different types of vibrators which can be ordered online for EUR 34.90 each, including VAT. The Engelchen vibrator is yellow, like the condom on the poster, but the Teufelchen vibrator is black, not red.
Both of these vibrators are "Made in Germany" with (so they claim) sturdy and long-lasting motors.
Second photo: Sometimes the ads are even in English, like this one that was posted during the European soccer championships.
