Damascus Things to Do: 362 reviews and 959 photos

Scattered around the old city are a series of old damascene houses previously inhabited by thwe novelty of Damascus. Now they have left the old city for a more comfortable one in the new. Instead many now are occupied by poorer people. It is in a way a paradocs. Most houses are closed to the casual visitors, some are set up as museums. Those buildings are in reality small palaces. I visited Beit as Siba'i inj a sidesalley off Sharia Hassan Kharet, south of straight street. in the same area you will find Beit Nizam, equally magnificent decorated. Further east along Straight satreet and up a sidealley to the north lie Maktab anbar.
