  Buddha statue at Banteay Kdei
by Rodan44

Much like Ta Prohm and Preah Khan, Banteay Kdei is another sprawling, largely unrestored, Buddhist monastic complex built by King Jayavarman VII in the 12th century. It was built using an inferior grade of sandstone and poor construction techniques, leading to the significantly decayed state of the structures visible today. Restoration is underway on many of the towers and corridors, but some of the walls are being held in place simply by thick wooden poles. The 13th century vandalism of Buddha images that is seen on many Jayavarman VII temples is quite apparent on Banteay Kdei.
