"Banteay Srei" Cambodia Things to Do Tip by Rodan44
Cambodia Things to Do: 668 reviews and 1,011 photos
The Hindu temple of Banteay Srei is famous for its unique pink sandstone architecture and beautiful carvings. Built in the late 10th century when the Khmer empire was gaining significant power and territory, the temple was constructed by a Brahmin counselor under King Rajendravarman and later King Jayavarman V. Banteay Srei displays some of the finest examples of classical Khmer art, specifically the intricate wall carvings. The temple is relatively small in size and lies 38 km from Siem Reap, making it quite far from the main Angkor sites, but it is well worth the effort.
Directions: 38 km outside Siem Reap
