Available in 30 on 50 U.S. states (the exceptions are in the Northeast, Northern Tier, Alaska, and Hawaii), Sonic is the last chain of drive-in restaurants in the USA. Call me a diner/drive-in snob, but I don't believe it is a real drive-in or diner unless it is locally owned. Think about it: menu decisions at locally-owned drive-ins or diners are made on the spot. At Sonic, these decisions come from a distant corporate office. So, you'll have to pardon me if I refer to it as McDrive-in.

Favorite Dish: Sonic offers a wide range of breakfast items, sandwiches, sides, drinks, desserts, and even salads. For breakfast, I like the bacon and egg toaster sandwich and, at other times, I prefer the extra-long chili and cheese Coney Island-style hot dog with mustard and onions. It wouldn't be a real drive-in without slushes. Until they come up with a pineapple one, it's a tie between the orange and the watermelon flavouring.
