City Walls, Havana: 2 reviews and 2 photos
The wall was built to protect Havana from the prirates and other invaders in the 17th century, and took 70 years to finish. It was 1.5m thick and 10m high. There were 11 heavily-guarded gates to enter the city, which were closed at night.
As the city grew beyond the wall in mid-19th century, most of the wall was torn down.
