View from the intermediate Cable car station
by bkarjee

The cable car to Gunung Mat Cincang is one of the best attraction in the island, something not to be missed. Gunung Mat Cincang is the second highest peak (708 metre) at Langkawi Islands. Before you go to the cable car station at the Oriental Village, make sure the cable car is operational. One can ring up at this number 04 959 4225 to find out about the status. When we went there on the first day, the cable car was closed because of lightening (as a safety measure) and hence we came back disappointed. Next day, the weather was clear and we went to the oriental village (the starting point for cable car) in the afternoon. The ticket costs RM 15 per person-3 yrs and above and each Gondola can take upto 6 persons. The cable car journey is completed in two parts. In the first part, the cable car climbs to a very steep height at an incline of more than 45 degree-quite scary. The view of the beaches and the mountains from the cable car is breathtaking. Keep your handycam ready for this event. After few minutes ride, on the right hand side one can see the Seven Wells Waterfalls in full view, something which you cannot see when you are near the waterfalls. It takes about 10 mts to reach the intermediate station. We got down at this station. Spent 15-20 mts here and were able to see almost the whole of the island from the intermediate station platform. Did a lot of photography. We board the gondola again and reach the top station. The view of the island is more stunning and beautiful from the top station. The second highest of Langkawi-Mt CinCang is at a stone throw distance and in the top circular platform, indications are given for all the important tourist sites around the island, including the highest peak- Mt Gunung Raya, standing at 881 metre. In the north direction, one can see the island of Southern Thailand. There is a cafe serving tea, coffee, fruit juices, cold drinks and ice creams.
View is mindboggling-not to be missed affair.
