This amazing waterfall is just west of the town and easily accessible. Thundering 62m down rocks to a small pool at the bottom, Skogafoss kicks up lots of mist and a deafening wind if you get really close to the pool. The sun hits it just right and you get to see incredible rainbows in the mist. If you go close enough to the pool you'll be glad you had some rain gear with you-you will get wet. There is a starting point for the Fimmvorduhals Pass hiking trail and you can even hike to the top of the falls. Legend tells of some treasure hidden behind it-but unfortunately it has never been recovered. There is a campsite just near the falls that is a convenient stop over.

Directions: off Route 1, west of the town. It is easily sign marked.
