  Spouting Strokkur - Geysir's neighbor
by bpwillet

One of the original geysir's in the world for which all others are named. Historically this geysir began in the 14th century, however, recently, it is not as puntctual as its neighbor Strokkur. Strokkur spouts about every 10min and to a height of 35m. The whole area is steaming - literally. There are many bubbling and steaming pools. There are wooden walkways and roped off areas for safety reasons. There is an information center across the street which also has a small cafe, souvenir shop and geological museum.

Directions: along highway 35 north of Thingvellir. Also part of the Golden Circle tour.
