"Bastia" Corsica Things to Do Tip by AndreSTGT
Corsica Things to Do: 119 reviews and 298 photos
Corsica's second city and main port consists of three very distinct quarters. There's the 'new town' or center around lovely, palm-lined Place St. Nicolas with its many sidewalk cafes. Further south is Vieux Port, the old port, a true gem with an impessive location at the foot of a mountain range and many picturesque, charmingly dilapidated buildings. On a promontary at the southern side of Vieux Port sits the massive citadel. Unlike many others this is not a museum but a regular residential area and the views from the top over Bastia are magnificent. With its soewhat austere and run-down beauty Bastia exudes a unique charm that is hard to describe, but it's definitely a must-see.
